| Information Technology...
Information technology has touched virtually every person and Unit in the Barbados Fire Service (BFS). It has enhanced the department's ability to conduct its day-to-day business and the quality of service which is delivered to the public.
Department Computerisation
Since the Barbados Fire Service embarked on its computerisation programme in 2000, all fire stations and offices have been equipped with computers and the necessary connectivity to headquarters station. These provisions have allowed us to easily communicate and significantly enhance our ability to quickly retrieve critical data at a moment's notice.
Information Technology Unit
The Information Technology Unit is based at Fire Service Headquarters and provides technical assistance to all areas of the Service. The Unit is also required to provide training in the use of various software packages which are currently utilised within the department.
Future Projects:
- The computerisation of the Fleet Management Unit.
- The computerisation of the Department's Store Rooms.
- The computerisation of the Fire Prevention and Public Education Unit.
