Two sisters are homeless after a fire destroyed their rented timber and wall house last night.
Shondelle Forde, 28, and Shonnet Brewster, 24, lost everything in their Fairfield Main Road, St Michael home. Both women were at work at Rosedale Nursing Home.
Brewster was first on the scene and had to be consoled by her mother Brenda Brewster. She said she and her sister had only started to rent the uninsured house four months ago and it had recently been renovated.
Owner of the house, Sonia Jones, is in Canada.
Brewster said she would stay at her mother for the night, while MP for the area, Rommell Marshall, told the family he would have talks with the Ministry of Housing to find them a new place.
Two tenders and eight fire officers, one tender from Arch Hall, the other from Probyn Street, responded to the 7:35 p.m. call under the command of Station Officer Junior Boyce. (CA)
