It was the second time in almost three years that fire struck the Pioneer Road, Bush Hall, St Michael community.
Prison Officer Peggy Haynes lost all her possessions after her home was destroyed last night about 7 o'clock.
Haynes, who lived alone, left home at 6:30 p.m. and was on her way to work when she got a call. Her house was not insured.
The house next door, which belonged to Marcel and Ridley Griffith, was damaged. Ridley, who suffers from a heart condition, had to be taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.
Member of Parliament for the area, Mia Mottley, was on the scene to offer support to the two families.
It is unclear how the fire started and police are investigating. |
