A FIRE, described by police as being of unknown origin, destroyed the home of Rommel Payne in Church Village, St Michael, on Tuesday.
The two-bedroom timber house which Payne shared with his girlfriend, Natasha Prentice, and their three-year-old son Rommel Prentice, was destroyed in the 2:50 a.m. fire.
Payne realised the house was on fire when he was awakened by the intense heat, and he grabbed his son and made a dash for the door.
A neighbour later told him that someone had called at his home and threw the home-made explosive into the house. Two fire tenders from Probyn Street could not save the uninsured home or its contents. (KB)
