Two Lose Home To Fire
22 June 2005
Two people were left homeless yesterday after suspected arson.

Oscar Forde, 76, and his nephew Halden Forde, of Airy Hill, St. Joseph, were counting their losses after an irate man reportly set fire to their small wooden house around 4 p.m.

The house, located near the Airy Hill Gospel Hall, was owned by the elderly man's sister Isabel Hinkson. It was destroyed and nothing was saved.

Oscar said he was hanging out by the street corner, a stone's throw away from his house, when the arsonist walked up to him and told him he was going to burn his house.

"Soon after that I hear somebody say he got the house light. And when I got there it was already on fire," he said. He estimated the damage to be in the thousands but said the culprit was in police custody. Two fire tenders responded.
