Fire Victim Still Waiting On Home
19 August 2005
Venita Bishop will have to wait a little while longer before she is able to move into her new house.

Map Construction, the company which volunteered to rebuild the two-bedroom, one bathroom house, had hoped that the structure would have been ready by August 4.

Fire destroyed Bishop's home at Lower Carters Gap, Enterprise, Christ Church, in February this year and officials at Map Construction Services Limited had rushed to the assistance of the 57-year-old. The owner plans to construct a demo house to showcase the work of his company now operating in Barbados.

Tony Allen, in a release from the company, registered his disappointment at not being able to start the project. He said it was unfortunate that they had to rely on some local departments before they could start.

"We have had a lot of interest since the article was published and people are waiting to see this new concept." The company pointed out that containers were already on the way to Barbados with thermalite blocks donated by Hanson's Brick Company, based in England.

Double-glazed PVC windows and doors which were cost-effective and helped to cut down on noise, and a kitchen and bathroom suite, were also scheduled to arrive.
