Three Homeless After Blaze
12 July 2005
Jason Walcott left home around 7 a.m. yesterday to go to work at Digicel.

As is the norm, he checked to make sure all the electrical appliances were unplugged.

Four hours later, he received the sad news that the No. 1 Welches, St. Michael apartment which he shared with Dale Corbin and Anton Davis was on fire.

He hurried to the scene and burst into tears when he saw the burn-out building and fire officers dousing the still-smoking embers.

Ryan Moseley, whose parents Philip and Diane - the landlords - left the island yesterday morning, said they were shocked to learn of the misfortune.

He said the top floor had been extensively damaged, the middle apartment sustained water damage, while the bottom floors sustained no major damage.

Divisional Officer Eric Rice said fire officials were treating the matter as suspicious, adding that it appeared the fire started in one of the bedrooms.
