Fire Safety Tips
- ALWAYS ensure when using tools and appliances externally, that you use only extension cords labeled for outdoor use.
- ALWAYS turn off and unplug electrical appliances when they are not being used.
- ALWAYS use a qualified electrician to repair or service electrical appliances.
- ALWAYS keep electrical appliances clean and in good working order, and have them serviced regularly.
- ALWAYS check electrical cords and plugs for wear and tear. Immediately replace frayed cords.
- ALWAYS keep energized electrical cords and appliances away from water.
- ALWAYS use a surge protector when connecting electronic equipment and appliances such as computers, televisions and stereos.
- NEVER use tape to mend or join broken electrical cords. It is best to replace the entire cord.
- NEVER use water to extinguish fires involving energized electrical equipment.
- NEVER remove or bypass the ground pin on a three-prong plug.
- NEVER place extension cords across doorways or under rugs or carpeting.
- NEVER disconnect an extension cord by pulling the cord. Always hold the plug to remove it from the outlet.
- NEVER overload electrical circuits.
